Gender Diversity

Gender diversity in the tech sector has seen some improvement in recent years. Women now make up 43% of the workforce. However, there is a significant imbalance in the types of roles women hold and their seniority levels.

The experiences of LGBT+ people in the workplace can be quite negative, with many hiding their identities for fear of discrimination. A recent survey found that 58% of LGBT+ people aged 18-24 have hidden or disguised their sexuality at work.

The TTC was created to address the UK’s tech talent shortage and diversity problem through collective action. Their goal is for the UK tech ecosystem to be a diverse and inclusive community where people from all backgrounds are welcomed and valued for their contributions.

 

It’s a government-supported, industry-led membership group that includes over 700 Signatory organisations, including companies of all sizes, non-profit organisations, charities, leading UK educators, and government departments.

upReach

Upreach are en education-led oganisation working to create the conditions for undergraduates from less-advantaged backgrounds to access and sustain top graduate jobs.

 

They partner with leading universities and and employers to provide tailored support to 3,000 students from across the UK. Their programs help students broaden their horizons, understand different career pathways and develop the skills and networks they need for a successful career. 

   

InterInvest

InterInvest are a gathering of LGBT+ professionals and allies who discuss issues facing LGBT+ people in the industry, and encourage and shape LGBT+ inclusion across the FinTech industry to attract and retain LGBT+ talent into the industry.

 

They look to provide a welcoming space for members to discuss LGBT+ issues in the workplace and share best practice within the industry, enabling firm-to-firm collaboration to provide support to in-house LGBT+ networks.

 

   

MissionINCLUDE

MissionINCLUDE is an inclusion and diversity programme looking to reimagine diversity initiatives.

Whilst many mentoring partnerships tend to be only focussed around one diversity characteristic, such as gender, disability, or ethnicity, MissionINCLUDE is different because it does not operate in these siloes and is open to any self-identified diversity characteristic, such as introversion, past experiences, and communication style.
